Description
Cercis canadensis is a medium-sized deciduous multi-stemmed ornamental tree grown for its wonderful foliage. In spring, just before the leaves appear, clusters of small, pea-like flowers open on the bare stems. These are followed by stunning, heart-shaped leaves that grow to 12cm in width. Cercis will thrive in moist but well drained soil, in sun are partial shade and is drought tolerant, making it very easy to grow for most gardeners. With its almost year round interest from flowers and foliage, it won’t disappoint.
