A popular, classic variety which produces huge reliable crops of long pods with 6-7 delicious, large green beans each. Beans must be picked regularly while small and tender and note that any surplus is well suited to freezing for winter use. Pods can also be picked when they are immature to be cooked and eaten whole. Both outdoor and indoor sowing possible but note that plants may require support in exposed locations. Easy to grow and versatile, peas and beans make a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal. As well as being a traditional side, legumes also provide a terrific source of protein for a vegan diet. Peas and broad beans prefer cool conditions but need to be grown in full sun or partial shade. Short on space? Many varieties are well suited to growing in plant pots. Ideally you do not want to overcook either peas or beans, keeping just a touch of crispness.
