Reaching around 1m in height and width, Weigela ‘Monet’ is a lovely spring-flowering shrub, with big, lipstick-pink tubular flowers in spring. However, the real highlight is its foliage which forms a neat mound of pink-blushed leaves. Each green leaf is edged with a variable cream variegation, with varying tints of rose-pink flushing throughout. Variegation will change depending on light exposure – whiter variegation develops in shade and deepest pink in full sun – nevertheless a picture wherever it is grown! Due to its compact nature, it’s perfect in pots as a feature plant or in the front of smaller gardens. Easy to grow too, so makes the perfect plant for new gardeners or those who prefer to spend less time maintaining and more time enjoying.
